The rose-tinted dawn silhouette of the Taj Mahal is one of India’s most iconic sights, reprinted in countless publications across the globe. But away from the most well-known attractions, the country offers many more incredible views – and some of them come without any tourists at all. Below, we round up some of the best
Lepakshi temple complex, Andhra Pradesh
Some of India’s temples throng with tourists, but this crumbling complex 130km from Bangalore is surprisingly serene. Set next to a tiny village, its cluster of 16th-century monuments from the Vijayanagara kingdom include the vast Veerabhadra Temple, with its ornate carvings and painted ceilings. Despite being easily accessible on a 2.5 hour car journey from Bangalore, the pilgrimage site is often largely empty save for wandering dogs and mischievous monkeys.
Ziro Valley, Arunachal Pradesh
Its September music festival may be raucous but, during any other month, this fertile eastern Himalayan landscape of terraced paddy fields, sleepy villages and pine forest is amongst the most tranquil in India. The valley features on UNESCO’s tentative World Heritage List thanks to the nature-worshipping Apatani civilisation who embrace a truly sustainable way of life and celebrate their unique culture with vibrant festivals. Explore lakes, temples and sprawling views over the lush landscape.
Lakshadweep
With Bounty-ad sand bordered by neon-blue water, the 36 islands of Lakshadweep are straight out of a holiday brochure but, as tourists need permits to visit and these can be difficult to arrange, most foreigners tend to stay away. Surrounded by reef dotted with tropical fish, these islands off the coast of Kerala have been compared to the Maldives, though life on the white-sand dollops remains rooted in centuries-old culture and tradition. Take a plane to the tiny airport on Agatti Island to start your explorations, then journey by speedboat to the handful of other spots in the archipelago that are open to tourism.
Bikaner, Rajasthan
Rajasthan is known for big-hitting attractions including Jaipur’s palaces and Udaipur’s lake, but the historic city of Bikaner can be overlooked. Once an important stop on the trade route between Central Asia and the Gujurat coast, its now home to pink-tinged palace hotels, ornate, scarlet-hued merchant’s houses (havelis) and the delicate, soaring facade of Junagadh Fort. Among the narrow lanes of the Old City, you can catch glimpses of everyday life in the city, stopping for chai or samosas as you go. The city is also famous for its bazars, selling all many of boldly coloured goods, from embroidered blankets to traditional sweets.
Diskit Monastery, Leh
More than 3,000 metres above ground level in the Himalayas, Diskit is a town where birdsong hangs in the air and a sprawling 14th-century monastery clings to the landscape. Voted as the 2nd top city to visit in the world, by readers of Travel and Leisure, Udaipur, or the ‘Venice of the East’, has gained much-deserved fame for its peaceful temples, majestic palaces, man-made lakes and historical architecture. We’ve collated five unmissable things to do while you stay in the spectacular city.
Stay at the extraordinary Taj Lake Palace Hotel
Floating in the middle of Lake Pichola like an elegant white tussock is the spectacular Taj Lake Palace Hotel. The 18th-century palace was once used as a summer retreat for the Mewar Royal Family before being converted into a beautiful hotel in 1963- retaining its original architecture. In 1983, the marble wonder was even used as iconic Bond girl Octopussy’s secret lair in the James Bond flick
Inside the white walls is a splendid oasis, with perfectly landscaped gardens, Mewar-era fountains filled with water lilies and a lovely pool. Four restaurants offer worldwide cuisines, including Indian, Asian and Italian, while the J Wellness Circle spa brings ancient Indian healing wisdom into the 21st century. Best of all, due to its unique location, every room, decorated with Indian silks and rich colours, boasts mesmerising views of the surrounding lake, hills and many overlook the magnificent City Palace.
Take a boat ride on Lake Pichola
Of the seven lakes in Udaipur, Lake Pichola is probably the most picturesque, filled and flanked by islands, palaces, temples, ghats and ornamental bridges. Man-made in 1362, the calm, blue waters have seen centuries of visitors touring the lake by boat, and it remains one of the best things to do in Udaipur.
A highlight of the boat rides is Jag Mandir, a palace built on the island of the same name in the 1500s. So visually stunning, the palace was said to be the inspiration to Shah Jahan for the wondrous Taj Mahal.
Especially enchanting are the sunrise and sunset tours, where you can watch the lake turn golden from the waters, and the bold orange skies make a truly magical backdrop for the Lake Palace.
Visit the Jagdish temple
One of the largest temples of Lord Vishnu sits prominently in the Udaipur skyline at 79 feet, right in the middle of the Old City. The temple itself is an impressive architectural feat, with three stories on a raised platform, held up by mighty, intricately carved pillars.
After being welcomed by the two immense elephant statues at the entrance, wander through the airy halls, and admire the various statues, including the brass image of Garuda the guard of Lord Vishnu’s house, that sit within the walls.
At the very heart of the temple is the four-armed image of Lord Vishnu carved from one black stone, widely believed to bring calmness and serenity to its visitors.
Watch the Bagore Ki Haveli dance show
Every evening, at 7 p.m., the Dharohar Dance Show begins in the beautiful Neem Chowk courtyard of Bagore Ki Haveli, where lit-up balconies add to the charm. After a brief introduction by Rajastani women in traditional attire, followed by the beating of a drum, the blowing of a conch shell and a religious song, a series of traditional, beautifully choreographed dances begin.
Supported by local musicians and danced in typical Rajasthani folk costumes, the dances showcase local tradition, culture and folklore in a wonderful way. There is also a brief interruption by the comical Rajasthani Puppet show, catered to kids but enjoyed by all.
Book a special dinner at Upre
Spend an evening at Upre, a wonderful rooftop restaurant that overlooks the entire city. As night falls, the City Palace and Lake Palace look extra bewitching as they light up against the dark starry sky. As you admire the captivating views, enjoy authentic Rajasthan flavours while live music plays out, at an elegantly set table creating a truly regal atmosphere.

Elsewhere Beach Houses and Tents, Goa
If you’re yearning for a slice of paired-back paradise, Elsewhere Beach Houses are just the place. Nestled in Goa’s quieter, less developed region of Mandrem, these charming holiday homes have been handed down through generations since 1886, dating back to the region’s Portuguese era. The owner’s mission is to provide a simple retreat to allow you to embrace the simple life. Imagine spending your days lounging on the beach, taking a morning boat trip out with the local fishermen to try and spot dolphins, taking part in yoga practice, and exploring the exotic surroundings by moped. You can choose to unwind in one of the beautiful beach houses or opt for a more adventurous experience in one of the romantic tents under the stars.
The winding roads here are largely empty and it’s an easy drive to the monastery, where a huge maitreya buddha soars above the scene, surveying the valley below.

Bikaner, Rajasthan
Rajasthan is known for big-hitting attractions including Jaipur’s palaces and Udaipur’s lake, but the historic city of Bikaner can be overlooked.

From idyllic hikes through astonishing scenery to traditional monasteries tucked away in remote villages, join us as we uncover some of the very best that this underrated region has to offer.
Explore the ancient fortresses of Leh Palace and Shey Palace and Monastery
Located in the majestic region of Leh, part of the Kashmir region punctuated with high-altitude lakes, these fortresses seemingly transport you to a different time and place altogether. Medieval Leh Palace, the former dwellings of Leh’s royal family, rises up nine storeys high from the mountainscape, reminiscent of the Potala Palace in Tibet’s capital, Lhasa. In contrast, the white-washed Shey Palace and Monastery, these contrasting fortresses offer a glimpse into the opulent lifestyles of India’s ancient dynasties.

Every year in the Hindu month of Magh, thousands converge on the banks of Triveni Sangam (the confluence of the three holy rivers of the Ganges, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati), to cleanse themselves of their sins. During this pilgrimage to the sacred city of Prayagraj, street food sellers set up in the market and camels in ornate coats wander the river banks selling rides. Meanwhile, night is for mesmerising aarti rituals, when the air thrums with devotional songs and flickering lamps float out onto the water.

I would like to comment that the service we have received from Greaves has always been impeccable.
Truly fantastic from start to finish and the entire Greaves team was aces. Of course, we spent the most time with Ganesh and Arun and can’t say enough great things about them – super knowledgeable, thoughtful and warm. In all my travels to India, I had not walked the markets of Old Delhi, and that was eye opening and fun, particularly when Ganesh stepped in the middle of a traffic jam and sorted it out. The details of Akshardham temple are still difficult to comprehend, really amazing. And Daniel and team too great care of us at the Delhi/JW airport transition, which made things very comfortable
We wanted to let you know how wonderful the trip in India was with Greaves. We have traveled all over the world and this trip to India with you is one of our top trips. We are very pleased and will return soon!
This was a marvelous trip in every aspect. Your team is outstanding and meticulous with all the details. I felt cared for. Greaves was so considerate and always made intelligent decisions for me. Our driver, was also marvelous. He is a superb driver and a wonderful man. He was always punctual and most considerate in every way. All our guides were excellent. A few that stand out the most were in Delhi, Udaipur, Jaipur, Bundi, Chatter Sagar and Shahpura to visit the local tribes.
We had a fantastic trip. We really love your country. Were very pleased with all our accommodations. They were beautiful places with fantastic staff. It was a very nice mixture of city, culture and nature. Hope to return one day and would definitely use Greaves again! Thank you for showing us, India!
As Always, service overall was outstanding and exceptional. Everything from pick up at airport to choice of hotels, car, driver, guides and activities was perfect. Every detail was thought through. For example, the fact that our driver took our luggage to Delhi by car so that we could fly hassle free on last day. Thank you for Everything.
Greaves Tours was terrific. Your team treated us like royalty. We were provided a nice bag filled with traveling essentials plus a departing gift. Our driver, took great care of us. He had the car stocked with water and snacks, he spoke English well and he also provided us with a lot of personal stories and information. I don’t think we could have been in better hands. We had a terrific time! I am so glad I had the opportunity to go. I learned so much from the guides and we did some really cool things. All of the hotels were top notch. I felt like a celebrity. Thank you for setting up such a wonderful vacation. You have definitely spoiled me!
First of all, THANK YOU for the most magical trip ever. We are far more than thankful with Greaves and Zibaritas for the attention, the excellent treatment we received and taking us to all the amazing places we got to see. Every day we dream about going back to explore more places. I hope it’s not too long before we visit again. Amazing India. Dear to my heart. THANK YOU for all your attentions and for having us. Words cannot even express how much this trip changed our lives for better. We will be back someday.
Guru, our driver was the best. We really enjoyed the guide services too. Great Trip. Everything went smoothly. We appreciate all services from Greaves. Divya from the Chicago office was very helpful and responsive.
Greaves Tours was terrific. Daniel and his team treated us like royalty. They provided a nice bag filled with traveling essentials plus a departing gift. Pali, our driver, took great care of us. He had the car stocked with water and snacks, he spoke English well and he also provided us with a lot of personal stories and information. By the time we left, we felt like we were leaving behind a friend. I don’t think we could have been in better hands. Pali was also a terrific driver. I don’t think I would have been able to drive there.
Our driver in Delhi Mohammad was very good. But our favorite driver was Pawan, he’s the best.
From start to finish , our experience was exceptional. Pick up at the airport in Delhi was easy and made arrival a pleasure. Singh, our driver, was professional, friendly and very accommodating. Venu, our guide in Agra was very knowledgeable, and was incredibly warm and engaging with my daughter. Everyone who guides us at Greaves will forever remain in my heart forever. I could not imagine a better team for my introduction to India.
All our guides were great, but our driver Raj was our real hero. We always felt safe in all the chaos. He never failed to meet us , anticipated our needs, and pointed out sights when our guide was not with us. We recommend him for a bonus. Overall, Greaves did a great job and we will recommend you to all our adventurous friends.
My first visit to India and became one of the finest tours I’ve enjoyed anywhere, with a comprehensive itinerary, skilled guides, well-orchestrated arrangements, and variety of experiences during visits to five cities. Highly recommended using Greaves for anyone wanting to go beyond the ordinary and expand their cultural, social, artistic, gastronomic and spiritual horizons in this amazing country of 1.3 billion.
We loved touring India with Greaves. We loved the vivid yellow, blues and pinks of their saris and tunics. We loved listening to the old tales of the Maharajas as we admired the incredible architecture. We loved saying “Namaste” daily which made India much more a soulmate than a simple destination. And, of course, we loved seeing the Taj Mahal at sunrise. We can’t wait to return.
You and your Greaves team were wonderful. The accommodations were spectacular and the staff – guides and drivers in particular – were knowledgeable, fun, and professional. I would have no hesitation in recommending any of the 3 guides whom Ari and I spent time with. And, the drivers were courteous, punctual, and safe! In particular having your driver meet us – from Delhi- at the train station in Agra and then return us back to Delhi in the evening was above and beyond. Divya, please know that I’ll happily recommend Greaves to my friends interested in Indian travel. And, I won’t hesitate to use you again. Thanks for everything!
I had an incredible time. I forgot to mention the utmost skilled drivers, who so safely cruised through the wonderful mess that are Indian roads. They were very attentive and accommodating with any changes.
It’s hard to know where to begin because this was truly the trip of a lifetime, and we are so very grateful for every minute of it. We have totally fallen in love with India and we will for sure be back. This is just the very beginning for us. A HUGE special thanks to all the Greaves staff, especially Dilraj who was there to help us every step of the way.
Greaves team has been amazing at every turn. We can’t say enough amazing things about Vikram. We also loved our driver Gurudev who was with us through Dehi, Agra and Jaipur. Naturally, we can’t wait to return.
Carole Cambata returns again and again to the Travel + Leisure A-List because of the personalized service, deep knowledge and unparalleled access she brings to her discerning clientele.
We had a fantastic time – thank you – and completely fell in love with India. You created a perfect itinerary for us – well organized and efficient. It all ran very smoothly with no problems.
Please pass my thanks and complimentary comments on to the relevant people in India and thank you once again for the best vacation ever.
The whole tour was excellent made more so by our driver who’s attitude and driving couldn’t be faulted. First Class service.
A very well planned tour where everyone took such good care of us. Our guides and driver was absolutely wonderful and so helpful. We look forward to returning and travelling with Greaves again.
A very enjoyable vacation, well organized and with wonderful accommodation and guides.
Our trip was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Greaves’ organisation is impeccable and we were not let down once – every connection made and every rep and guide waiting for us. We appreciated the lovely accommodation and the upgrades you had suggested made it even better. We enjoyed our few days in Mumbai and as Ann said the slum tour was amazing.
And no Delhi belly!
“This is a specialised service above and beyond any other current operator, from the moment you land in India and a Greaves representative meets you at the door of the aeroplane”.
On behalf of the Travellers I would like to sincerely thank you, Prafull and your team in London and India. We had a fantastic time in India. The organisation and support provided by Greaves was outstanding. In particular, Poonam was a great success – a wonderful lady who enhanced our travels with her knowledge, humour and hard work!
Lots of happy memories in Incredible India.
We had a great time, and Greaves could not have done better. Punam in particular was an excellent guide, who fitted in with us very well.
I will definitely recommend you to anyone wishing to travel to India!
Thank you for email. The trip was absolutely wonderful: everything was organized very well and worked out perfectly, the hotels were magnificent, all the guides were really interesting and helpful and our driver was full of attention and looked after us very well.
We truly had a memorable vacation and a fantastic wedding anniversary. It’s just a shame it was so brief. We’ve fallen in love with India and will definitely go back.
Thank you again for organising such a wonderful trip.
We really had the most fantastic trip and were so well looked after by Greaves everywhere we went. I cannot fault it in any aspect and would love to use you again for my next trip there, which I am hoping will be next year.
Thank you and your team for such a wonderful and professional service
The trip was a great experience for my family.
The hotels selected were excellent. The drivers were courteous and skilled at his job. The guides were all individuals and performed their roles to a high standard. The Greaves representatives that met us at each stop were very supportive and helped us with our particular requirements.
We will recommend the trip to our friends.
We have had a lovely, smooth and well organized trip. Everyone was kind and extremely helpful. Thank you.
The service provided has been flawless. It would be difficult to suggest anything that could improve the experience. Thank you.
The trip was a great experience for my family. The hotels selected were excellent. The drivers were courteous and skilled at their jobs. The guides were all individuals and performed their roles to a high standard. The Greaves representatives that met us at each stop were very supportive and helped us with our particular requirements. We will recommend the trip to our friends. Well done Greaves!
The whole process from establishing an itinerary to completing the vacation worked extremely well. The choice of hotels fitted our needs perfectly. Our driver for the majority of the trip was excellent: knowledgable and offered additional sight seeing extras – I now know where peanuts are from! We appreciate the care you took to plan and book our vacation for us and we will use you for our next trip to destinations you cover.
Firstly may I say what a wonderful trip we had and Greaves were superb every step of the way! Thank you for all the effort and organisation you put into putting the trip together for us. We’d highly recommend Greaves for anyone that is looking to arrange a trip to India, it certainly wouldn’t have been so smooth without you.
Lastly our driver Sunil was amazing, he is a credit to your company and we would definitely request him again should we ever be lucky enough to return!
Greaves and their representatives were always at hand at every stop to greet and assist us. Always very welcoming and willing to modify any changes to our itinerary, making our whole trip a wonderful experience.
We had the most wonderful adventure in India, thank you for arranging our itinerary, everything was just fabulous! The Greaves representatives we met on our trip were wonderful too and couldn’t have been more helpful & smiley. As too was our driver and his assistant, who were always prompt and willing to be flexible with timings etc. Thank you for everything and I will definitely be in touch when planning my next India adventure!
Thank you – I had a fabulous trip. Many thanks for helping us with the extra bags that were kindly dropped off at your Delhi office and I know Louise was delighted to be reunited with her kindle, so again thank your team for organising this.
We also appreciated that we had twin beds in all but one of the hotels and all the rooms were excellent.
A BIG thank you to Sanjay who was an excellent driver and very patient with us.
We have had a brilliant vacation. Everything was organized down to the last detail. The reps that met us were wonderful especially Antony who met us in Kochin. Very informative. Our driver that took us to Kochin, homestay then to the rice barge and then to the Marari resort was a fantastic driver we all felt very safe. The Homestay at Dewalokam was amazing, the food, guided tours and family were excellent. The rooms were 5 star, they thought of everything. Would highly recommend them. The beach resort was perfect, very quiet as the season is closing, staff, grounds, food all top notch. We had an upgrade to the palace suite in the Old Fort Hotel in Kochin, check us out. Also when we got to the Taj the rep asked for an upgrade there to the palace side not the tower. Very spoilt. The rice boat was fab and the food wonderful. The guides were knowledgeable and very obliging, brilliant. We could not fault one single thing. So a huge thank you Sheetal for all your organisation and a big thank you to everyone involved. Perfect vacation loved it.
We had a fantastic vacation thank you – Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and we had a really interesting, varied and relaxing time! Jay, our guide was extremely knowledgeable on a wide range of subjects, a very safe driver (essential!) and willing to adapt the schedule to our wishes. He arranged a trip to a cinnamon farm that we particularly wanted to see and took us to a supermarket!
Just wanted to let you know that we had a fabulous vacation, thanks so much for facilitating it for us. All the accommodation was first rate and we left all locations wishing we could have spent more time there. Special mention to our driver Rayul who drove us from Nagpur Airport to both game reserves and back to Nagpur. Driving in India is very difficult as you know and he did not take any risks or make us feel uncomfortable at all.
Also the staff at Shillim were all excellent and could not have made us more welcome.
We are already planning to return to India as we have been recommended a game reserve in Assam so something to look forward to in a couple of years so will be in touch!
Many thanks to all at Greaves Travel for helping to make a memorable vacation.
Thank you for your kind enquiry on our vacation – we had a superb time, everything was very well organized, friendly, exciting and with great comfort/customer care. I must single out Singinawa as being “excellent/superb plus”. Thank you Greaves Travel for a great experience vacation.
Thank you so much for organising such a wonderful tour to India. Your attention to detail is second to none and very much appreciated by us, particularly all the airport assistance with a special mention to the most welcoming golf cart practically at the airplane door on arrival in Delhi airport. I thought that was amazing and very much appreciated by us all, particularly when you are feeling a bit weary and jaded. All the guides were amazing, a particular mention should go to the guy who showed us around the Taj Mahal and the guy who was our guide in Udaipur, Camel I think.
Many thanks for all your hard work in making it such an enjoyable trip. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to any of my friends and would hope to return to India one day with your assistance.
Thank you we had a wonderful trip and everything ran very smoothly. The highlights for me were seeing a tiger at very close range in Ranthambhore. All the hotels were great but I particularly enjoyed staying at Sher Bagh Camp and absolutely loved the Devi Garh Hotel – what an amazing place.
I do want to thank you for the role Greaves played in making our trip to India so great. I don’t think I appreciated how much we would depend on Greaves during our vacation. I sort of thought we had booked it and then that would be that – we would be on our own. It wasn’t the case at all as your representatives were at our side from the moment we arrived till our departure. Each person we met was charming, professional, knowledgeable and interesting. They tailored everything to our needs and did it with pleasure and a smile. They provided information and insight and throughout made me feel secure and happy to be led around to enjoy our trip. Your company has excelled and I will be certain to recommend friends to use you in future. Thank you and with best regards
Our vacation was perfect, we couldn’t have had a better itinerary. Greaves tour itinerary, meet and greet, guides and driver, are all outstanding . We would have no hesitation recommending your company (as we did on numerous occasions to people we met on our travels) to other people, if any of your clients would like a first hand experience from one of your customers we would be happy to provide. I close by once again stressing how easy Greaves made the whole trip for us, your helpful ideas and suggestions (and in letting us personalise the trip to meet our needs), to your agents, guides, meeters and greeters in India, you have all made a fantastic trip, truly memorable, thank you . We are already thinking of our next Greaves trip when we would like to do northern India, a revisit to Goa, and Sri Lanka.
It was a great trip with all of your Greaves representatives being helpful, reliable and informative. All the guides in the different places were good. I called it our singing trip as each of them gave us a song or chant at different shrines temples or forts! We were especially grateful to Sunil our driver in Kerala. He did a lot of driving for us and took the time to stop at points of interest which he thought we might enjoy.
I can’t think of anything that we could offer as a help improving your service.
I would certainly highly recommend Greaves from beginning in London to end of trip as a company to use when visiting India.
We had a wonderful vacation and all went very well. The boutique hotels you recommended were very good. We were upgraded to a pool room at Coconut Lagoon which was really special. Bandos Island in the Maldives was lovely and the reef afforded really great snorkelling.
I would like to return to both Kerala and the Maldives – we shall see!!
Thank you for organising another fabulous vacation. The Maldives is the ultimate beach/diving destination. It exceeded our expectations and is Paradise. Viva at by Taj came up to the usual excellent Taj standard – staff, service, food, water villas were superb. We loved the Open Grill and the head barman was very attentive. The all inclusive option was the right choice. The water villas were the best option for us. Swimming from our villas into the lagoon was very special, especially seeing the eagle rays.
Our three weeks in Rajasthan, which ended yesterday morning, were absolutely delightful and enchanting. We want to take this opportunity to thank you personally and all your colleagues whom we met on this voyage for the friendly, efficient and professional assistance through out. Whether in Delhi, Udaipur, Jaipur or Agra, we felt extremely well looked after and very secure and confident. Your very kind and knowledgeable representatives and guides went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and made sure that we got the best rooms in each hotel. Most pleasant and enjoyable, aside from the Imperial, was the overnight stay in the tent at Chhatra Sagar and most enjoyable and highly to be recommended is the Samode Haveli and its staff in the beautiful authentic setting. The literature festival in Jaipur is very much to be recommended and you should also take up in your program the ‘face to face with old Jaipur” walk organized by students, I believe. We were also very lucky to have had such a competent, reliable and truly likable driver named Vinod from Udaipur onwards until the very last day.He is an expert! Very much agreeably surprised and relieved were we when your representative in Mumbai greeted us at the national terminal, accompanied us to the international terminal and at the same time made sure that our luggage would be handled with priority. It did indeed arrive in Basel at the same time as we did. We didn’t expect this extra treatment in Mumbai because, after all, that part of the trip was organized through our travel agency in Basel. Hence another reason to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We hope to be back in north India next year as we have made reservations in Nagaur and Jodpur for the Sacred Music festival in February 2017. We will get in touch with you, if we may, for that occasion and hopefully we can have Vinod again as a driver!
Again, many thanks for your very kind services which made every moment of our journey most memorable.
We thought the whole Greaves experience was really good and obviously a lot of work had been done and was being done on a daily basis to ensure that everything went smoothly which it always did. Some of the drives were very long but the driver always drove effortlessly. The itinerary and accommodation choices felt as though you had met us! The cookery experience in Delhi with its Gupta was very special, also the bird watching experiences and village experiences were very different and will remain with is always. We loved India, the food is amazing and the people friendly, kind and very welcoming.
The trip went very well, your arrangements were excellent, all the meet and greets with your representatives were most professional and ran smoothly. The Maharajas Express was an excellent way to get around and the standard was very high. There were only twenty five of us on the train which holds about eighty guests so that was an added bonus.
The stay at both hotels were very good. India is certainly unlike anywhere I’ve been before and I’ve been many places! Perhaps one day I’ll return and go North. If I hear of anyone planning to go to India I will certainly recommend you.
We are writing the email to say thank you to you for the lovely trip in India. We received highly professional service from both the agents and the guides in India. It was such a wonderful experience and will be a great memory for both of us. Given our amazing experience, I recommend you to my parents and their friends. They would very much like to do a trip to India with you as well.
Greaves Travel continues to exceed our expectations whenever we travel to India. We remain impressed with the level of service on the ground, our custom tailored itineraries, the hotels chosen for us and our chartered planes. Thank you Greaves for your consistently reliable high level of service. We are grateful that we can always count on your team to deliver us a magical Indian experience.
We are home now and reflecting on our trip to incredible India, it certainly lived up to its name. The smooth transits through Delhi airport were really appreciated especially the meeting airside when we first arrived. Sahil Dawar from the Dehli office who we met four times was exceptional and really made things easy. All of your co-ordinators were really good and the guides that they arranged were really professional.
We were delighted with our trip and events have demonstrated that we made a wise choice of travel agent. Greaves were superb. We are already planning our next trip which will definitely repeat Amritsar and Jaipur together with more in Rajasthan.
Thank you in particular to you and your colleagues for making our trip so seamless.
Most satisfied with the services you provided. All accommodations were very good especially the Samode Haveli and Singinawa. Game drives were also very good with either just the 2 of us or sometimes one other couple – no Cantaars thankfully.
Wouldn’t have made it without your help, thanks again.
Just to say I am back and had the most wonderful trip to India. Thank you so much for your excellent organisation. Everyone in India was amazing and so helpful. I shall be booking again for next year!
The transition from one location to another was amazingly smooth and trouble free due to the Greaves team. Excellent and interesting hotels throughout Rajasthan and the itinerary was spot on.
Fabulous trip with a spotting of a leopard and tigers! We saw the real India, but maybe not a trip for first timers. Once again thank you Greaves.
I am now back to the “real world” but the magic of the trip still lingers on. I was extremely happy with the choice of hotels all along the trip and the service in every one of them was remarkable.
The guides you provided were all highly professional, knowledgable and helpful. I especially liked Punam in Delhi, however all guides were excellent.
The representatives who came to meet me me in the various destinations as well as the airport were also highly professional, helpful and courteous.
The driver throughout my journey was excellent both in terms of his driving skills as well as general knowledge.
The level of service and attention to detail by Greaves Travel is outstanding truly having traveled with many high end agencies you rank right at the top and I will definitely recommend you and would choose to travel with you again hopefully in the future.
The hotels were fabulous particularly in Agra and Jaipur and the service was impeccable – fewer guests meant very individual attention.
I was well taken care of at all stages of my trip and would definitely use Greaves again and would recommend to my friends. Thank you.
We had a really fantastic time, the arrangements all went well and the whole journey was smooth and effortless thanks to all your attention to detail, the great reps and guides and a really special mention to our fantastic driver Munna Singh who went that extra mile to look after us and made our trip so memorable and special. Your hotel recommendations were great too with just enough time to relax and enjoy ourselves round the pool after a hard day sightseeing. We really did have a trip of a lifetime and loved every minute. Thank you for helping to arrange a really lovely vacation which we will always remember. I am smiling as I write this – so many wonderful memories.
Our driver was excellent, safe, thoughtful, and we felt very comforted by his capable driving. He also attended our every need very effectively. Altogether an excellent vacation and we would highly recommend Greaves.
Just to say we have had an absolutely fabulous vacation. We would particularly like to thank Puneet and his team for looking after us.
In a trip like this with so many moving parts it is inevitable that things will not always go to plan. In this situation it is the resolution of issues that make the difference. Puneet and his team delivered an excellent result in managing any issues that occurred and we felt valued as customers.
We look forward to our next India trip.
We enjoyed every moment of our time in country and we are very appreciative of the efforts made on our behalf by Greaves. There are no real aspects where we would suggest change – our guides were unfailingly excellent, the accommodation was outstanding and the itinerary you helped to arrange was just what we were after. Thank you so much for the excellent support. We would have no hesitation in recommending Greaves to anyone intending to travel in India. Our experience after two extensive tours, in different parts of the country, has been nothing short of exceptional.
Thank you again for looking after us so well.
Thank you for making such excellent arrangements on our behalf. We had a truly memorable second visit to India and would have no hesitation recommending Greaves Travel. Every appointment ran perfectly with your agents and the driver and the excellent guides. We were fortunate indeed to have the wisdom and scholarship of Joli in Agra, Shailendra in Jaipur and Kamal in Udaipur, all performed superbly and provided exactly the guiding services which we had requested.
The agents met us on time on every occasion and handled our transfer flight from Udaipur to Delhi so that we were never anxious for our connections.
We look forward to working with Greaves Travel on another occasion with our best wishes.
Thank you so much for arranging this beautiful trip to India for us, I can’t tell you how much my family and I enjoyed it. To start with Greaves Travel representatives were always there to receive us and great us and make sure all arrangements are in place for us with the hotel and guides.
The hotel arrangements not only met but exceeded our expectations.
The guides were deep with knowledge and history background and pleasant to be with.
The car and driver were an excellent arrangement and the driver knowledge and navigation skills were outstanding.
The choice of route and timings were perfect.
So thank you for everything and rest assured I will recommend you to all my family and friends.
We had a great time, thank you. When we arrived at Mumbai airport we were approached immediately by Tony who was brilliant. Food on train was excellent staff wonderful and we ate lots of Indian dishes without having any tummy problems. Enjoyed all the trips on the coach, the driver was really good. Enjoyed Goa relaxing. Can’t wait to go back again. Thank you for all your help.
Arriving at Chennai airport, alone, at night is daunting but being met by my lovely guide and driver, arriving at The Taj Hotel where absolutely all the staff were extremely kind, friendly and helpful and where they attended to every request, no matter how small, along with terrific food, all made my trip even better then expected. The service at Greaves is fantastic, could not have been better.
I just wanted to let you know we had a fabulous time in india. Everything just went perfectly and the trip was amazing. Thank you so much for all of your help. Whilst all of the guides were good, Atul, our guide in Agra, and Vikram, our guide in jaipur stand out the most to me. Not only were they knowledgeable and thorough on the tours, but their personalities and conversation added to the fun of the day.
Of course The Oberoi Hotels and staff were amazing as well.
Thank you again for all of you help and we’ll be in touch for our next trip to india.
Very good trip, packed itinerary which ran very smoothly. All of our guides were excellent.
Our trip was truly memorable and went like clockwork with Greaves waiting and attending to our every need. The hotels were the very best and at the Lake Palace, as repeat clients, we were upgraded to a royal suite and given some really charming goodies. We were made to feel really special. I wish could remember the names of the guides and drivers who were so great. When we decide to go again, it will certainly be with Greaves.
Since landing in India we have been looked after superbly. All the hotels have met or exceeded our expectations. The guides were informative and interesting and our driver excellent.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you!!! My friends and I would thoroughly recommend Greaves. The service from my initial booking with you to throughout the entire trip was fantastic.
The Palaces were spectacular, well chosen, the service exemplary and food fantastic. The sightseeing was marvellous and I enjoyed every single minute of it. The meet and greet also ensured a hassle free arrival and departure to and from each venue including airports.
We had the most fantastic time! It was a truly spectacular trip – where we were treated like Maharajahs at every destination. Greaves was amazing – we felt so spoiled with all the upgrades you arranged and the incredible service. We sang your praises everywhere we went. Thank you so much for all your hard work putting it together, and making it all so seamless and easy for us. Thank you for changing the itinerary for me as well – it worked really well having one less place, and we loved everywhere we went.
It was a really wonderful trip – one to remember forever. And we are now plotting when we can go back to India and where to!!
Our tour was superbly organized and superbly executed. Please extend our thanks to your excellent staff on the ground, they were wonderful, thoughtful and efficient and we so enjoyed meeting them all and sharing their experiences and expertise. An extra gold star plus goes to our delightful, unflappable driver who has eyes in the back of his head and looked after us so well. Also to Roy, our charming guide in Agra – his breadth and depth of knowledge and his enthusiasm were a joy – he is a great credit to Greaves.
Firstly can we thank you for a wonderful trip, the service we received in the UK and India was fantastic. The agents, guides and especially our driver Kuldeep were first rate. The hotels were beautiful and we were looked after very well indeed. It was difficult to pick out one hotel as they were all very, very good. However we shall single out the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace which was simply breathtaking. The tour was spot on and we visited some fascinating sights. We would absolutely recommend you as a tour operator – we delighted with the whole experience. It will be hard to beat. We shall return to India and when we do we will travel with Greaves again.
We had an absolutely perfect time! Not only that I thank you at Greaves for organising it so brilliantly. We had no worries at all on the whole trip which went like clockwork from start to finish. All the hotels were fantastic and so was the whole itinerary. Ending our trip at the Aditya resort was perfect because that hotel in particular was spectacular in every respect, in particular the service and the cuisine, which was the best we have ever had.
I want to thank Greaves for everything. It was perfect from start to finish. We were met at each destination by your agents who stayed with us till we arrived at the hotels.
The driver Navtesh was terrific. Was a pleasure to have him drive us, he showed and talked about the areas as we drove. All the guides were good too.
You thought of everything.
Thank you again for giving us a special experience and look forward to our next journey with you.
Yes we had a very enjoyable vacation and everything was managed very smoothly from your India Office, from meeting us at the airport to seeing us off on to the Palace on Wheels. The Hotel was super and we were upgraded to Taj Club rooms which we have assumed was thanks to Greaves, so we appreciate that very much. Overall it was a great adventure, organized extremely professionally by you and your team in London and those in your local office.
We had a fabulous time, really loved it and the hotels selected were excellent bar none! Hope to be travelling to India again in the not too distant future.
Thank you for your help with the arrangements, as always the service from Greaves was excellent.
I had a spectacularly WONDERFUL vacation… the best ever! It was even better than I had dared to hope. Truly the trip of a lifetime. For the entire tour, the organisation was exemplary – I was taken care of so well, and felt entirely safe. Everything ran so smoothly and efficiently. All the reps were very helpful and friendly, and every request or enquiry I made was met in a really positive fashion.
I had the MOST amazing time. I will of course recommend Greaves most highly to anyone contemplating visiting India.
Warmest thanks to everyone who helped make my stay so memorable.
With regard to Greaves we have nothing but high praise from beginning to end. As you know, David was very impressed with your own knowledge and efficiency from the very start of the planning process. This meant that even arriving in India 2 months after leaving the UK, we felt confident that all would be well.
The various guides were also very good being both knowledgeable on their area, but also willing to discuss much more about themselves and what it is to be Indian in 2014. For us this was probably the most enjoyable and valuable part of the trip and made us realize how advantageous it is to have access to your own personal source of information.
Finally, I have saved my highest praise for Jitender our driver. It was a concern that we might be stuck in a car for 3 weeks with someone that we could not connect with but Jitender was wonderful. A good and careful driver, he was always on time in his immaculately clean car. When we were with reps or guides he was quiet, but as soon as we were on our own he talked, practising his English, imparting knowledge and answering all the questions that occurred to us along the way. He looked after us when we were ill, he bought us a rose for Valentine’s day and won our admiration for his quiet determination to improve himself. If it makes any difference we would really like his employer to know what an asset he is.
Throughout the trip we felt able to relax knowing that we were in safe hands. We had help when we were ill and felt like a precious parcel being carefully passed from hand to hand along the way with each rep having been fully informed of our current situation.
We came to Greaves on the recommendation of my sister and we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending you to anyone planning a trip to India.
Thank you for all your help and hard work.
What an amazing trip to India. It’s difficult to know what we enjoyed most, but we wouldn’t have enjoyed anything half as much without knowing that at every turn there was a Greaves employee waiting to make our life easier. The roll of honour is headed by Raj, who drove us safely, securely and cheerfully for ten days. At no stage were we worried or concerned for our safety on India’s very busy roads. All of the guides were excellent: Punam, in Delhi, Guru in Agra, Maneesh in Jaipur, Kamal in Udaipur and Jasmine in Mumbai. We had very little to do with your representatives (as nothing went wrong!), but Khush looked after us very well in Udaipur, where we made some changes to the itinerary and where he was most helpful in getting us smoothly onto the plane to Mumbai as was your representative in Mumbai.
The hotels were fantastic. Perhaps the only niggle was that we ended up paying for breakfast as we took it in our suite-part of the reason for having a suite. But we’ll know for next time. A fantastic recommendation from Victoria and , all in all, a wonderful two weeks. Please pass our thanks on to whoever else was responsible.
I am pleased to say that we had a superb vacation and would just like to say that we were extremely impressed with the overall service provided by Greaves from start to finish. The trip you designed was just what we wanted as was the choice of hotel and time allotted for each stay. We did have one instance where the treatment from an hotel – the Taj, Mumbai – was not good; your local team took it up with the management and as a result on our return visit last Saturday we were given a “triple” upgrade to a magnificent suite – so well done to your team in Mumbai.
The most enjoyable and wonderful trip of our lifetime, we saw all the sights worth seeing plus a few others extra to those expected.
The whole flow, ease and quality of service from the Greaves team was fantastic. I organized this trip to show my family around a country that i lived in 10 years ago. They were always there when needed, gracious, accommodating and always smiling. Thank you for making this special trip for us a remarkable one.
We chose Greaves Travel because of their perceived knowledge – which has proved to have been correct. We have thoroughly enjoyed our itinerary.
Dear Greaves, we had a wonderful time, you organized it perfectly! Everyone was helpful and kind and it ran very smoothly. Many thanks and we will come to you again.
Overall the company offered us a fantastic experience. It was professional, well organized, and efficient and we felt looked after at all times. We didn’t have to concern ourselves with anything apart from enjoying our vacation. With many thanks for a memorable vacation.
Thank you for the vacation, I couldn’t have dreamed it better. Neeleshwar is perhaps the most soothing place I’ve ever been – and the houseboat was phenomenal. The backwaters were so beautiful and the staff on the boat were incredibly lovely. Actually, the staff were the highlight everywhere – each and every Greaves person was charming and helpful, and the hotel staff were so friendly and made us feel so comfortable. The only thing I would have changed about the whole trip was to cancel the work I’d gone to India to do, and to spend longer in Kerala! We’re both already desperate to go back. Thank you so much.
We are unusual travelers in that we had a specific itinerary in order to explore our separate family histories. All the guides embraced our quest with enthusiasm. The excellent service, provided by Greaves, took care of all the practical aspects and we enjoyed our trip very much.
I’ve not felt the need to write an endorsement before, but for anyone seriously interested in Indian food… Jonty Rajagopalan rocks. I recently had the good fortune to spend a couple of days in her witty company during a Greaves Travel culinary tour of India for the Daily Mail. She’s an expert on regional Indian cuisine, eloquently fusing its history – both developmental and political – with cultural & religious significance into a fascinating whole. Her passion and knowledge takes some beating. It’s simple, I defy you to find a more erudite or personable companion for eating obscure street food or banqueting like Bollywood prince. Enjoy!
A wonderful celebration of my 60th Birthday, a trip of a lifetime beautifully organized. Well done all at Greaves Travel.
I just arrived back to Hong Kong this morning and want to thank you for all your help with this memorable expedition. It was just a glimpse of the beauty of India and I hope to go back for more.
I would, and indeed do, highly recommend the Greaves team, to anyone looking to travel to the Indian sub-continent. We will definitely be in touch with you for our next trip to India and would also like to visit Nepal and Bhutan sometime. Thanks once again for creating magical experiences.
Greaves is well organized, courteous, efficient and made the trip highly enjoyable as we did not have to worry about any arrangements. I would unreservedly recommend Greaves and would certainly use them again. The programme Greaves put together made very good use of our time we had available and ensured we saw all the major sites.
We had a wonderful tour of India, with so much to see. Having everything organized by Greaves meant we wasted no time, saw much more and never had to worry. Thank you Greaves.
Your arrangements for our visit in October worked like clockwork and your choice of hotels spot on. A big thank you to all your Team. I was so impressed with the country that I am now planning a month’s visit in 2015 and will certainly be asking Greaves to handle my arrangements.
Our challenge to Greaves was to put together a budget conscious “off the beaten track” introduction to Rajasthan that would satisfy a small group of jaded travelers whose real life concept of ” out of the way” is to enter Peter Jones from the back door. All of Greaves’s itinerary suggestions provided the perfect level of comfort, adventure and seamless co-ordination. 5 Star India is bling on steroids and must be seen but it was the little tucked away heritage hotels, our early morning walks in the local villages ( mind the cow dung) and weaving through the potholes of an Indian highway that was our real introduction to another world. It was wonderful we could boast to the Mumbai elite we were going to places they had never heard of; score one for us at the dinner table.
As for service I am afraid Greaves has to take second place behind the cobbler of Raipur village who measured our feet at 11:00am and produced hand stitched goat hide moccasins for delivery to Lakshman Sagar in the Badlands of India (Maharajah’s former hunting lodge of course) at 6 the next morning for under a tenner.
I don’t think our vacation could have been bettered and I hope we will be able to repeat our trip with some of our grandchildren next year.
Outstanding Service by Greaves in every aspect. I will definitely use Greaves on my next trip to India.
We had a wonderful trip and cannot fault the consummate professionalism of Greaves from the moment that you first took my enquiry call to the moment when your representative said goodbye to us at Delhi airport-everything was first class and ran very smoothly. We loved India and are keen to go back there again at xmas with our three children, and will definitely be using Greaves again.
We were delighted with Greaves Travel and will have no hesitation in recommending you to friends etc. Thank you for creating such a wonderful vacation. With best wishes.
I had the most memorable and interesting vacation ever! Every day was magical and exciting and every hotel booked was an EXCELLENT. I can’t wait to do North India with Greaves and thank you for everything.
I felt I was in the arms of the most expert and smoothly conducted operation concerned solely with my enjoyment and experience of India. For virtually one month I was transported, met , advised, consulted and seamlessly cushioned in every practical detail which freed me up to get on with my own agenda (collecting material for paintings) totally unhindered. I felt very looked after in the most discreet almost invisible manner which gave me a sense of safety as I channelled my energies into my own interests.
We are very grateful. For the way you organized this beautiful trip and look forward to planning a new one next year. Maybe in Aurangabad, Gujarat.
We are very grateful. For the way you organized this beautiful trip and look forward to planning a new one next year.
We really had a fantastic vacation thank you. We were keen to travel with Greaves again, having had a great time in Northern India 7 years ago. It was great to see that your standards are still just as high and the people you work with in India still just as outstanding as before. We very much hope that we’ll be able to travel with you again in the future.
Firstly thanks for all your planning. It was a great vacation and we really enjoyed all the Tamil Nadu sites and people. The driver was brilliant…the best we have every had : good enough English, very relaxed and extremely knowledgeable and helpful all round.
Your ground staff were all excellent – our flight was rescheduled to leave Mumbai earlier than slated and your team got us ready and there in time and without any panic at all.
We really enjoyed the train journey : whetted our appetite and we will not shy away from this type of class accommodation for a long journey (though of course not overnight).
The new hotel in Pondicherry was superb: great room, extremely good staff, super pool, excellent location : quite faultless really. They were a little bit disorganized on the food side but that was understandable as they had only been open a month. We stayed there an extra night because we liked it so much.
Thanks again for all your help.
My feedback is very positive. Everything went smoothly and we were very pleased with the service that Greaves provided. In particular: The service when booking and before we travelled was excellent.
The standards of the hotels you recommended was very high. We liked them all but the hotels in Varanasi and Bandhavgarh were outstanding.
The representatives were always helpful. I would mention in particular Girl in Delhi and Tony in Mumbai who got us a room upgrade. Perhaps the one exception was in Khajuraho where we were not met on our return from Bandhavgarh and the flight was delayed for some hours but we appreciate that the representative here was not from Greaves itself and it is only a small town. Otherwise, everything was done for us and at the airports at Delhi and Mumbai, Greaves had someone on hand to get us through all the formalities – small things like that make all the difference to a vacation.
So overall, it was great and we will certainly use Greaves again when we go back to India. And thanks to you personally for all your hard work.
We had a great time and I would like to thank you for your excellent personal service in arranging our trip (and my birthday cake!) I must say that all the connections and interactions with your various representatives in India were first class – prompt, polite, helpful and professional. Please pass on our thanks and appreciation to all concerned.
I would have no hesitation in using you again and recommending Greaves to others – a fantastic job.
A really fantastic trip in every way. We loved it all and it went so well. No hitches at all, everything first rate. The only thing we added to the schedule was an elephant experience, walking, washing and being washed by it (her), near the Spite Lodge. Our driver took us on request. It was terrific fun. Hotels were all terrific as was everything else. Staff, agents and guides were all excellent, what a high standard you maintain.
You are a star at organising everything so well. – and up-graded to a Palace room in the Mumbai Taj Mahal. Well, another WOW! It was lovely and such a super surprise, thank you so much.
Home and exhausted now – about 4am in our old time!!
Thank you again.
Once again the excellent arrangements for our India tour were of the best. Thank you for your attention to detail, and also for the unexpected and lovely upgrade at the Taj in Bombay.
We felt very spoilt and pampered at every stage of our journey through India. Everywhere was different and interesting in it’s own unique way, and all staff could not have done more to make sure we had wonderful memories to take home with us.
I know my friend is now just as ‘hooked’ on India as I am, and so I’m sure another trip will be on the agenda some time in the future.
Once again, my grateful thanks for making our ‘Passage to India’ so enjoyable.
Just a short note to thank you and the Greaves organization for making our visit to India a most memorable and well-arranged vacation.
Greaves surpassed themselves and it was an incredible, and memorable, visit – thank you so much.
First of all the trip was wonderful and perfectly well organized thanks to you and your excellent agents in India, in Delhi and on the field. Truly a superb organisation. Agra: of course praise for the magic view at the Oberoi. But bigger praise indeed for the manner in which the Archeological Department of India has “cleaned” and organized tourism at the Taj Mahal and at Fatehpur Sikri. When we visited both sites twenty years ago they were crowded, dirty and hectic. Now in spite of the thousands of visitors, it is clean, very well kept/restored and extremely well organized. The same can be said at Amber Fort in Jaipur.
A very special word must be said about our driver Abhy Singh who drove us all the way from Agra to Jodhpur airport on our last day. A great, safe, polite and experienced driver. A key element of success for our trip in view of the time we spend , happily, on the road.
All transfers upon arrival and departure in every city was perfectly organized and totally reliable.
Once again our warmest gratitude for having made this beautiful trip such a success.
Just wanted to drop you a note to thank you so much for organising what turned out to be the trip of a lifetime! Raymond and I had the most wonderful vacation. We adored India which was certainly helped by all the Greaves staff which made everything run so smoothly without a hitch the entire time. We felt like a Maharajah and Maharani – difficult to come down to earth. Another pleasant surprise was that we were upgraded in every hotel we stayed in. The hotels were outstanding and we were very glad to take your advice and stay in the Nimaj campsite, Samode and Devi Garh, very relaxing to rest in the countryside for a few days.
We also loved the Raas hotel in Jodhpur.
We will definitely return to India in the near future. Once again many thanks for all your advice and expert organisation.
Our tour of Rajasthan was absolutely magical and far exceeded our expectations. Although we have widely travelled throughout the world, this was our first time in India and we will definitely go back – perhaps next time to Kerala. All the Greaves representatives were excellent, particularly the gentleman who met us when we first arrived in Delhi. The guides were all very good and the one that stands out was again the one in Delhi on our initial sightseeing tour. All the hotels were absolutely outstanding but special mention must go to the Rambagh Palace and the Umaid Bhawan. It was such a privilege to stay in such magnificent palaces and we truly felt we were being treated as royalty!
When we got to Delhi on our last night we checked into the Trident – another beautiful hotel. At reception, we were treated to another astonishing surprise when they upgraded us to the presidential suite which we could happily live in full-time!
Overall this trip has left us with so many magical memories. Thank you so much once again for all your help. We will definitely come back to Greaves.
We have recently returned from a 4-week tour of Sri Lanka and southern India arranged by Greaves. We feel we have to write to say how fabulous the vacation was. Our tour of these two countries was quite complicated – our choice! Nevertheless, all your arrangements went just like clockwork. Throughout the entire tour we were treated like royalty (or should we say ‘like maharajas’!) by the local drivers/guides/representatives. Never once did we feel a little lost or insecure. After doing our homework, we approached 4 tour operators including yourselves, and must say that Varuna Gandhi was by far the most helpful and knowledgeable travel adviser of any of the companies we dealt with. She gave us some excellent advice when it came to tweaking the itinerary before the final result was arrived at. She frequently went “that extra mile” to make our tour the great success that it turned out to be.
AND on top of all this, Greaves quotation for the tour was highly competitive. So as far as we were concerned, the choice of tour operator was obvious. If we ever travel to the Sub-Continent again, and we do so hope to one day, we will without question use your services again. We have also heaped our praise about you to our family and friends, so we hope that this will put more business your way in the future. Very many thanks to Greaves, and in particular to Varuna, for arranging such a perfect, unforgettable tour.
We had a wonderful time in India last month. You were very helpful and efficient in all the planning and booking stages – thank you very much. We were also impressed by the efficiency of Greaves and their agents on the ground at different stages of the trip; we were always met, and moved on to the next place, on time, and given helpful advice.
The driver and guide in Hyderabad were both excellent. They were both very flexible in accommodating slight deviations from the fixed programme. The driver was very responsible and careful and courteous, with good English and interesting to talk to. The guide was quite exceptional; extremely knowledgeable about the history, art, culture etc and very good at putting across his knowledge. We learned an enormous amount from him and really enjoyed his company and his sense of humour.
All in all a wonderful trip. Many thanks again.
I wanted to take the time to thank you for all the hard work you put in to arrange a magical honeymoon for Gayle and I. We had a ball. All the transfers worked like clockwork, the hotels were great and the route planning excellent. We will be back.
Just a short note to thank you for all your help and expert advice in planning our trip to India. We had a fantastic time and everything worked perfectly. The hotels were all wonderful and although the little Padmini Haveli in Chittorgarh was a total contrast to the 5-star luxury of the Taj palaces, it was nice to experience the ‘real’ India – incredibly friendly, excellent food, and in a unique location within the old fort. Chittorgarh was a good place to break the journey from Jaipur to Udaipur and well worth the detour.
